Conservation Week Walk About

We went out to explore nature in the school nursery and budgie aviary today. Some of the beautiful things in nature we saw were geckos, wetas, baby budgies, vegetables growing, and lots of trees and plants. Healthy Nature, Healthy People is the theme for Conservation Week 2015.

Kapahaka Group

The Kapahaka group from Matapihi School performed for us today. This was a practice for them before they take part in the National Kapahaka championships. They were outstanding and we wish them lots of luck in the competition.

Inter School Cross Country Champs

We had 3 representatives for the Year 4 team and we are just so proud of them for getting that far. When they returned they couldn't wait to tell us that our school won the Interschool Cross Country Cup. Congratulations to our super fit and fast runners.

School photos

Today we had school photos. The man was really funny, he told us to say peaches. I felt really happy. There was a little Mickey Mouse on top of the camera. He got every one into four rows, then suddenly he took a photo. The class that was before us was Room R. It was in the happy hall. The date was 23.10.15. by Sophie

Folk Dancing

On Wedenesday night the Middle Team had Folk dancing in the hall.Everyone bought a plate of food. I was exited.There were lots of teachers.Everyone started by doing the chicken dance. Buddy Class Time

On Friday Room O and Room E did buddy class.We went on to the junior feild and played games.The games were cat and mouse game that was so much fun and a few other games.It was so much fun but tiring.My buddy and I had to go in a three because a boy had no buddy to go with.I loved it and I think it was AWEOME!My buddy loved it as well I think.When we got back to class I was so tired. by Kayden

Shake Out

On Thursday it was Shakeout Day. When it was quarter past nine it was shakeout time. Mr Wheeler said something over the speaker. We had to get under our table, even Mrs Stewart did.We had to go to our meeting place. I didn't fell any shaking which was good. by Alysha

Life Education Bus At Our School


Our first session with Tim, the Life Education teacher was unforgettable. Tim is so smart and funny. We learned lots about what our body needs and about our heart and blood. Thanks Tim!

We are learning to be good kaitiaki for our school and at home because we care for the environment and want it to be safe and beautiful for all living creatures.

Poetry


We have been enjoying lots of poems- reading and writing them. We have written poems about Daffodils. These poems have created beautiful images using all sorts of language features.


Kaea Shows us his Lavalava


Kaea's dad got fabric from Samoa to make lavalava for Kaea and Tawera. Tawera's grandmother sewed them up for the boys. We were pleased to hear that the boys wear their lavalava.

Amazing Cloak from Syria


Thank you to Ella's mum for visiting our class with her beautiful cloak and her photos.
It was hard to know exactly how to wear this cloak. We loved the tinkly sound made by all the coins and bits of metal on the cloak. It was really unusual.

Buddy Class Time on the Playgrounds

We had great fun with our Buddy Class today. Our buddy took us to their junior playground and we took our buddies to our playground. We made sure we looked after our little buddies so that they were safe on the big equipment. We are all learning to follow the red part of the rainbow and care for each other.

Hibiscus Flowers

Lava lava

Lava lava are worn by adults and children in Samoa and some other Pacific Islands. A lava lava is a rectangular piece of fabric worn as a skirt. They are very light and cool to wear which is perfect for the hot days in Samoa. 

Clothes

We all wear clothes, different sorts of clothes for different occasions.
Clothing styles are different in different parts of the world.
These shoes on Ben's feet are Dutch clogs. They are wooden!

Amelia Bedelia

We have discovered a really funny book character. The Amelia Bedelia stories were written 52 years ago and they are still fun. We laughed lots when Mrs Cowan read it to us. Amelia misunderstands everything!

Jack Flash and the Jumping Beanstalk Show



This was a perfect show for our enviroschool because it was all about an environmental emergency- rubbish kept falling from the sky onto people's heads! It was so much fun and very clever.
